USS finances ‘more resilient’ in latest update

Improvements to benefits or contribution cuts could be on the horizon, USS says

The health of the beleaguered Universities Superannuation Scheme is “more resilient and moving in the right direction,” its leader has said, suggesting that benefits could be increased after cuts were made last month.

An update on the USS’s funding position at the end of March shows that there are “positive trends for scheme funding emerging since the turn of the year” despite “a backdrop of significant volatility in financial markets and rising inflation”.
