OfS staff kept London weighting despite university cut

Anger after regulator keeps salary top-ups despite such funding being dropped for institutions it regulates

Salaries for some staff at the Office for Students included “reserved rights to London weighting or allowances”—despite universities suffering a cut to their London weighting in their funding this year.

The OfS’s annual accounts for 2021-22 show that eligible employees received the London weighting boost in their pay packets this year. London weighting means that employees receive a set amount in their salaries to compensate for the higher costs associated with living and working in London.
