Senior figures fear lockdowns left students lacking social skills, prompting worries over consent and alcohol
University and student leaders have warned of social problems among students who experienced the prolonged Covid-19 lockdowns before starting university.
Cardiff Metropolitan University vice-chancellor Cara Aitchison warned on 23 June that while young people starting university are the “most technically adept cohorts we have ever seen”, staff in halls of residences believe they are lacking in some social skills because of Covid-19 lockdowns.
