Number of student loans that will never be repaid falls

Resource Accounting and Budgeting charge drops, while bursary for short courses announced

The proportion of student loan debt that the government expects to be paid by taxpayers has fallen, figures published by the Department for Education reveal.

Data released by the DfE show that ministers expect 44 per cent of the loans taken out by students in 2021-22 will end up being subsidised by the government, down from 53 per cent predicted for last year’s cohort.
