A crackdown on so-called low-quality degrees and radical reforms to the university admissions system are among pledges made by the two Conservative Party leadership candidates over the weekend.
Former chancellor Rishi Sunak has promised to cut down on degrees that do not offer students good enough “earning potential” if he becomes prime minister, vowing to “take a robust approach to university degree quality by going further than existing reforms”.
