Staff at Falmouth vote in favour of strikes

Nine in 10 members of University and College Union vote for action in latest ballot

University and College Union members at Falmouth University have voted in favour of strike action in a long-running dispute over staff contracts.

The union is protesting changes to employment arrangements after the university created a wholly owned subsidiary called Falmouth Staffing. Academics employed by the subsidiary do not have access to benefits such as the Teachers’ Pension Scheme, which the union says has resulted in a “two-tier workforce” at the Cornwall-based institution.
