Guidance to combat ‘inherent risk’ of placements to mental health

Universities UK sets out checklist on how to help students while on placement

Universities have been given advice on how to support students while they are on a placement, as it says there is an “inherent risk” to mental health in switching from lectures to the workplace.

Guidance from vice-chancellors’ body Universities UK, published on 3 October, gives universities a checklist of actions to support their students’ mental health during a work placement, which is often needed for degrees such as nursing and teaching qualifications.
