UCU sets strike dates in ongoing row with university bosses

Union confirms dates for industrial action in pensions and pay disputes

Plans for 10 days of strike action in February have been set out by the University and College Union, in a move described as “deeply irresponsible” by the further and higher education minister.

Staff at 44 institutions are set to walk out for five days in the row over pension costs between 14 and 18 February. In the following week, UCU members at 68 institutions will go on strike for two days (22 and 23 February) over both the pensions row and the fight over pay and conditions, while staff at 39 institutions will walk out over the pay dispute only on 28 February, and on 1 and 2 March.
