FoI shows that OfS chair encouraged Rachel Houchen to apply for £27,000 role

The Department for Education has disclosed further information about the controversial appointment of an Office for Students board member after initially refusing to release details in response to a Freedom of Information request.

In early 2022, former assistant headteacher Rachel Houchen was appointed to the OfS board, a role for which she will receive £27,540 over three years for an estimated time commitment of 20 days a year. Board appointments are made by the DfE.
