UKRI postgraduate deal

National funder UK Research and Innovation has said it will review stipend payments in plans to improve support for postgraduate researchers. UK postgraduate researchers have been hit hard by the cost of living crisis, with many complaining of low pay, high workloads, a lack of support and inadequate training. UKRI came under heavy criticism for the level of support offered to postgraduate researchers during the Covid-19 pandemic. The funder has released its response to a call for input on its development of a “new deal” to address the issues faced by postgraduates.
