Nurse review
The government has promised a more evidence-based approach to UK research, development and innovation in its response to a major review of the UK R&D landscape. Last week, the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology published its response to Paul Nurse’s independent review of UK research, pledging to “more consistently use evidence, data and analysis in the government’s assessment of UK research, development and innovation capacity and capabilities”. It added: “The government views financial sustainability as a necessary enabler of both long-term efficiency and the government’s ambition to cement the UK’s place as a science and technology superpower.”
