OfS calls for ‘ambitious’ approach to raise school attainment

England’s regulator updates guidance aiming to foster more collaborative approach to pre-university attainment

The Office for Students’ director for fair access and participation has called on universities to be “more ambitious” in their attempts to raise the attainment of young people before they enter higher education.

In a blog published on 7 December, John Blake said he wanted to see “more evidence of collaboration between universities and colleges and third sector organisations, schools, and employers” in a bid to address the “risks to equality of opportunity that current and prospective students may face”.
