Research figures welcome REF delay ahead of ‘fundamental shift’ for exercise

  

Evaluation exercise delayed a year as Research England acknowledges size and pace of reforms

Senior research figures have broadly welcomed a decision to delay the next iteration of the Research Excellence Framework by a year given the scale of the changes being made to the exercise.

The postponement to December 2029 came with other changes to the assessment exercise, which determines the destination of around £2 billion of government research funding.
