UCU meets Universities Superannuation Scheme Investment Management company to discuss stakes in oil and arms
The University and College Union has met with senior representatives of the Universities Superannuation Scheme Investment Management company (USSIM) to discuss its approach to investing in companies with links to oil and arms trading, as well as those with poor environmental reputations.
The USS scheme invests in fossil fuel companies BP and Shell, and arms manufacturers Raytheon and BAE Systems. It also has a stake in Thames Water, which has been heavily criticised for the environmental impact of its practices.
