Almost all UK higher education institutions report cyberattacks

Government survey finds vast majority of providers targeted by criminals online

Almost nine out of 10 higher education institutions taking part in the UK government’s 2023 Cyber Security Breaches Survey said they had identified a security breach or attack within the past 12 months.

According to the findings, published on 19 April, 85 per cent of the 52 institutions that provided information said they had suffered a cyberattack or a breach of cybersecurity in the past year.
