Rising prices and disruption during Covid-19 risk undermining Russell Group’s progress on access, group says

Cost of living pressures and long-term post-Covid trends risk harming disadvantaged students’ access to university and progress once they arrive, the Russell Group has warned.

The group of research-intensive institutions said on 26 May that students from underrepresented groups had been “impacted disproportionately by pandemic learning disruption”, while rising prices during the cost of living crisis “risk(s) undermining recent progress on continuation and learning outcomes”.
