Ucas data show decline in overall number of applications between 2022 and 2023

The number of university applicants has fallen year on year in all four countries of the UK, data from the application service Ucas have shown.

According to statistics published for the June deadline on 13 July, 446,530 people in England applied to start a university course this year, down from 458,980 at the same time last year.
