‘Unhappiness’ ahead for UK university applicants

                    

A-level results likely to be lower this year amid efforts to return to pre-pandemic grading

There could be “a lot of unhappiness” among UK students who get lower-than-expected A-level grades this year, as a return to pre-pandemic grading could cause students to miss out on university places, experts have warned.

Nick Hillman, director of the Higher Education Policy Institute, said there will be “lots of sharp edges to this year’s results” amid efforts to tackle Covid-related A-level grade inflation.
