Independent adjudicator tells institution to compensate student for distress caused by illegal drug-taking in accommodation
A higher education institution has been ordered to pay compensation to a student who had been distressed by drug-taking in student accommodation owned by their institution, a case study published by England’s higher education watchdog has shown.
According to the Office of the Independent Adjudicator for Higher Education, the student in question had asked to move accommodation sites to be nearer others on their course—a move that the unnamed institution approved.
