Ucas: Low-tariff providers hit hard as student applications fall

Admissions data suggest high-tariff institutions have seen a smaller decline

Higher education institutions with the lowest entry requirements saw their application numbers fall at a sharper rate than middle and high-tariff providers, according to data from the admissions service Ucas.

According to statistics for the 2023 admissions cycle, the total number of applications to UK providers fell from just over three million to just under three million year on year.
