Arden vice-chancellor praises teaching despite poor TEF score

Carl Lygo says Arden University has learned from TEF process and made improvements

The vice-chancellor of Arden University has said he is confident that the institution is providing students with “outstanding experience and positive outcomes” despite becoming the first university to receive a “requires improvement” rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

The rating was introduced for the 2023 exercise alongside the existing gold, silver and bronze awards, but no universities received the grade when the first results were announced last year. While two small college have received an overall “requires improvement” score, Arden is the only provider with university title to do so.
