Education committee will look at cash-strapped universities’ potential over-reliance on overseas fees

MPs have launched an inquiry into universities’ financial reliance on international students, citing concerns about the proportion of institutions with a budget deficit.

The House of Commons Education Committee will look at the numbers and proportions of overseas students in English institutions. It will examine aspects including their relationship to university funding, impact on the availability of places for domestic students and how England compares with other countries.
