The Universities of Oxford and Cambridge have hit back at criticism they received for keeping the identities of some donors a secret.

Last week, dozens of UK academics signed an open letter calling for more transparency over university funding. Their plea came following an investigation by the media platform Open Democracy, which claimed to have exposed the amount of ‘dark money’ in higher education funding.
