Survey backs education to improve social mobility

The Sutton Trust has published the results of a survey showing that the public overwhelmingly backs improved support for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The charity, which advocates for education as a way of improving the UK’s low levels of social mobility, found that 87 per cent of respondents said the government should offer more financial support. Indeed, just over half (53 per cent) of respondents in the survey wanted to see maintenance grants reintroduced.
