Universities ‘need swift action’ on antisemitism

Union of Jewish Students president urges UK vice-chancellors to show “moral clarity”

The president of the Union of Jewish Students has called on UK vice-chancellors to take “swift and decisive action” to clamp down on cases of antisemitism on university campuses.

Speaking at a meeting with university leaders, convened and attended by prime minister Rishi Sunak on 9 May, Edward Isaacs said there had been an “unprecedented rise in campus antisemitism” since hostilities between Israel and Gaza escalated in October last year.
