In recent years, there has been an undeniable tension between demands that universities ensure freedom of speech on campus and an insistence that they must have zero tolerance for anything that smacks of antisemitism. Both are clearly laudable aims but a number of cases have shown that in practice, drawing the line is not always easy, or at least not easy to do as quickly as some people would like.
