US pulls funding from Unesco

The US has withdrawn three-quarters of its annual funding for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco), following the UN body’s vote to recognise Palestine as a full member.

US funding for Unesco, which was to be $80m this year, represents over one-fifth of the organisation’s budget. The US is the largest single contributor.
