How effective are science grants, asks House committee

The Department of Energy’s Office of Science may have its budget cut by more than $600 million (€413m), if the House of Representatives Appropriations Committee gets its way. In a report published on 15 June the committee said it has “little insight into the success or failure of billions of dollars in basic science grants” awarded by the DOE office.
