Federal science advisory panel reforms urged

Federal agencies need to enhance the transparency and accountability of the roughly 100 scientific advisory committees that advise the US government and Congress each year, according to a report released by The Keystone Center.

“Critics of the manner in which science is used in regulatory decision-making processes tend to raise two kinds of concerns”, concluded the report, developed by a cross-sector working group and published on 18 September.
