NIH warns of sweeping cuts
The National Institutes of Health says it is already awarding non-competing continuation grants at about 90 per cent of the committed level because of budget doubts, and warns things could soon get worse. Congress and the White House have no plans to reverse or amend the sweeping sequestration cuts, which kicked in on 1 March and have reduced the budget at NIH and other agencies by about 8 per cent.
