National Humanities and Arts Endowments face 15% cuts

The budgets of both the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) would be slashed about 15 per cent under the fiscal year (FY) 2012 funding bill approved by the House Appropriations Committee on 12 July.

The budgets of both agencies would fall from $155 million to $135m under the proposal, which is $11m below President Obama’s budget request for the agencies.
