Conservative to head panel that funds NIH

The new chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee that funds the National Institutes of Health and several other important health research agencies is Rep. Jack Kingston, a fiscally conservative Georgia Republican who has indicated he doesn’t believe in evolution and opposes federal support for human embryonic stem cell (hESC) research.

During a television appearance in January 2012, Kingston stated: “I believe I came from God and not from a monkey”, saying he does not accept the theory of evolution.
