The new chairman of the House Appropriations subcommittee that funds the National Institutes of Health and several other important health research agencies is Rep. Jack Kingston, a fiscally conservative Georgia Republican who has indicated he doesn’t believe in evolution and opposes federal support for human embryonic stem cell (hESC) research.
During a television appearance in January 2012, Kingston stated: “I believe I came from God and not from a monkey”, saying he does not accept the theory of evolution.
