Democrats say EPA official tried to change witness testimony

Several Democrats on the House science committee have accused a top Environmental Protection Agency official of attempting to interfere with a witness testifying in a Congressional hearing.

The committee’s top Democrat, Eddie Bernice Johnson of Texas, and several other representatives have asked the EPA’s inspector-general to investigate.

In May, the committee’s environment subcommittee held a hearing on the relationship between state and federal regulations, in particular when it comes to addressing issues such as air pollution.
