The Trump administration taken the next step towards opening up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge for oil and gas drilling, as the Department of the Interior begins an analysis of the site.
On 20 April, the interior department published what is called a Notice of Intent to carry out an environmental impact assessment from oil drilling in the Arctic.
The decision has attracted criticism from Democrats on the House Committee for Natural Resources who have written to interior secretary Ryan Zinke saying it is a hasty decision.
