US ‘still in’ UN climate push, Democrats say at Madrid meeting

United States opposition politicians have pledged their support at the UN’s flagship climate event

A United States congressional delegation to the UN climate change conference taking place in Madrid, COP25, has insisted that the US remains committed to the 2015 Paris Agreement to reduce carbon emissions even though it is formally pulling out of the global pact.

“We want to say to everyone ‘We’re still in, the United States is still in’,” the Democratic leader of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, said at a press conference on the opening day on the conference on 2 December.
