Committee deepens inquiry into Antarctic assault allegations

   

Leaders of US science committee call for more information from National Science Foundation and subcontractor

Leaders of the House of Representatives Science, Space and Technology committee have demanded more information on allegations that sexual harassment and assault beset the US Antarctic Program, which carries out activities including research in the region.

Republican committee chair Frank Lucas and Democrat ranking member Zoe Lofgren wrote last week to the National Science Foundation, which is managing the programme, and subcontractor company Leidos, saying that the information they had provided so far was inadequate.
