Final 2012 appropriations clear Congress

An omnibus spending package that will complete the remaining appropriations for fiscal 2012 has been passed by Congress, clearing the way for President Obama to sign the measure and avert a partial government shut-down.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2012 was passed by the House of Representatives on 16 December 16 and the Senate on 17 December. It rolls nine appropriations bills together and includes funding for the National Institutes of Health, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy.
