Science-related stimulus funds face scrutiny

The four agencies that received over $40 billion in funding for science-related activities under the economic stimulus package enacted into law in February 2009 have obligated about 98 per cent and spent $22 billion, or 54 per cent, of those funds as of 30 September 30 2011.

The agencies are the Departments of Energy (DOE) and Commerce, the National Science Foundation (NSF) and NASA.
