Wildfire closes Los Alamos lab

The Department of Energy’s Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has been closed since 27 June and will remain shut at least until 30 June because of risks presented by a fast-moving wildfire south-west of the lab and the mandatory evacuation of the town and surrounding areas.

Laboratory facilities are closed for all activities, and non-essential employees, including researchers, have been directed to stay away. LANL personnel who continue to work onsite include the management team.
