DOD urged to overhaul recruitment to avoid STEM shortage

The Department of Defense (DOD) needs to review its recruitment policies to ensure that it is fully competitive with private industry in terms of its science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce, according to a National Academies report.

The committee who wrote the 25 October report also recommended that DOD reassess its security clearance requirements for some STEM positions in order to make non-US citizens eligible.
