Arati Prabhaka, who served as the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) director under President Clinton, is to become director of the Pentagon’s Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (Darpa) on 30 July.
Before heading NIST, Prabhaka served for several years at Darpa, managing research in advanced electronics. She will succeed Darpa’s first female director, Regina Dugan, who has joined tech giant Google.
