NIH expresses broad support for LGBTI research

The National Institutes of Health is emphasising that its support for research in the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) community goes beyond the three funding opportunity announcements (FOAs) that it released in February 2012 seeking research proposals in this field.

“One misconception that I want to clarify is whether researchers can submit applications related to LGBTI health to other funding announcements. The answer is of course,” wrote NIH’s deputy director for extramural research, Sally Rockey, in a 23 January blog post.
