Travel policies that “severely constrain” the participation of NASA employees in scientific conferences have been set up as a result of the across-the-board budget cuts to federal agencies imposed on 1 March by sequestration, according to the Lunar and Planetary Institute (LPI).
The sequestration has had a similar effect on other government agencies such as the US Geological Survey, said LPI, which is a research institute that provides support services to NASA and planetary scientists.
