NOAA launches oil-spill database

Researchers can now use a web tool to explore data and analysis from the 2010 Deepwater Horizon oil leak, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has announced.

Called Data Integration, Visualization, Exploration and Reporting, or DIVER, the database’s search engine lets users call up data according to species or habitat, and presents the available records as well as some analysis of the type of data available.

“[DIVER] is another significant step in making NOAA’s environmental data available for the research community, resource managers and the general public,” said NOAA administrator Kathryn Sullivan.
