$36m for carbon capture technologies

The Department of Energy has launched a call for applications to support research into advanced carbon capture and storage technologies.

A total of $30m will go towards four projects to bring new technologies up to engineering scale, energy secretary Rick Perry announced on 22 September. The remaining $6m will support two awards into designing and testing a commercial-scale carbon capture system.

“Carbon capture technologies are one of the most effective ways we can continue to leverage the sustainability of our nation’s fossil fuel resources while advancing environmental stewardship,” said Perry.
