Endowment provides $1m for cultural institutions hit by Harvey

The National Endowment for the Humanities has promised up to $1 million in emergency support to libraries, universities and other cultural institutions in areas affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The NEH will provide $250,000 to state humanities councils in Texas and Louisiana. This will enable institutions to apply directly for streamlined emergency grants of up to $30,000 to preserve collections and help restore services.

Existing grantees affected by the hurricane may also apply to repurpose their grants to focus on critical needs.
