Physician-researcher Kimryn Rathmell nominated by Biden after former NCI boss promoted to lead NIH
President Joe Biden’s nomination of a replacement for Monica Bertagnolli as the head of the National Cancer Institute has received a welcome from the biomedical research sector.
Kimryn Rathmell was described by the White House as “an accomplished physician-scientist and internationally recognised cancer expert who is well suited to lead the NCI”, which has an annual budget of almost $8 billion to fund cancer research and training.
