NIH loosens new rules for foreign collaborators after criticism

Reduced National Institutes of Health requirements for non-US institutions welcomed, but “still hugely problematic”

The US National Institutes of Health has watered down new requirements it is imposing on foreign collaborators, after a major backlash to its plans built over the summer.

Foreign partners on NIH-funded projects are being required to provide the lead institution with relevant laboratory notebooks, data and documentation, in response to a finding by the Office of Inspector General that the availability of such material was inadequate during the Covid-19 pandemic.
