Science association says federal R&D funding will fall by $5 billion this year

Total US federal R&D spending will fall in 2024, but R&D has not been devalued in comparison with other activities receiving federal funds, according to an analysis from the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

AAAS analyst Alessandra Zimmermann examined available information on 12 bills passed by Congress last month that set out 2024 federal funding for activities including R&D.
