Energy department invests further in solar energy

The Department of Energy has announced it is providing more support for research to reduce the costs of manufacturing, purchasing and installing photovoltaic panels.

The DoE said that it would spend $53 million on 40 research projects aimed at lowering the cost of solar power.

Ten research institutions will split $14 million to find innovations in photovoltaic technology that could lead to longer-lasting and more efficient solar panels.
